Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is a 2009 American computer animated film that was based from the children’s book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs that was written by Judi and Ron Barrett. The animated comedy film was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and was created under the production studios of Sony Pictures Animation. It earned a box office hit under the distribution of Columbia Pictures with an income a total gross revenue of $243,006,126 from the budget of $100 million.
The plot of the film focused on a scientist named Flint Lockwood whose invention since he was a kid was incredibly unique and rather odd. One day the town where he lives at named Swallow Falls gets into a problem where the only available food is sardines. Flint then successfully invented a device that turns water molecules into food!
The main characters in the animated film were voiced by Bill Hader as Flint Lockwood, Anna Faris as Samantha "Sam" Sparks, Neil Patrick Harris as Steve the Monkey, James Caan as Tim Lockwood, Bruce Campbell as Mayor Shelbourne, Andy Samberg as Brent McHale, Mr. T as Officer Earl Devereaux, Bobb'e J. Thompson as Calvin Devereaux, Benjamin Bratt as Manny, Al Roker as Patrick Patrickson, and Lauren Graham as Frances Lockwood.
